If the child is born abroad with one parent United States citizen then any person born after 14th November 1986 will automatically be an US citizenship holder if he fulfills the eligibility criteria of one of the person's parents are US citizen when the child is born. Moreover the citizen's parents should have lived a minimum of five years in the United States before the child's birth.

But if the person is not US born and does not have US citizen parents then he can get his US citizenship through the process of naturalization. For naturalization you will have to be minimum 18 years of age, you should have a legal permanent address in United States for minimum of 5 years, you should have a good moral character and good working knowledge of English and pass test of US history and government.
